1st bottle drunk at the start of the year was a little too young / rasping. However the 2nd bottle at the end of the year is more interesting. Some smoky/gamey development on the nose. There is still good grip, that suggests further positive development, and the initial rawness has softened somewhat.
I reckon this could take on more animalistic influence over the next 3-5 years, potentially becoming more appealing than the current moderately enjoyable 'rustic red' position.

Very rich, full bodied, long, unctious and sweet! Powerful garrigue, with leather and tar. Nothing of a Bordeaux varietal here. Like Mataro sans sangre, with hints of syrah and garnacha. Clearly its own thing. The sweetness is enchanting, along with chocolate spice. Probably too fat, primary and hedonistic for the "adults." But drinking perfectly now...probably at its peak. Lovely, in a rustic, if not sordid sort way.

Still drinking well, this bottle seemed a bit less interesting, but in no way over the hill.

Nice wine and good price (~$18 @ Costco). No highlights just a good wine with burgers.
