1st bottle drunk at the start of the year was a little too young / rasping. However the 2nd bottle at the end of the year is more interesting. Some smoky/gamey development on the nose. There is still good grip, that suggests further positive development, and the initial rawness has softened somewhat.
I reckon this could take on more animalistic influence over the next 3-5 years, potentially becoming more appealing than the current moderately enjoyable 'rustic red' position.

Very rich, full bodied, long, unctious and sweet! Powerful garrigue, with leather and tar. Nothing of a Bordeaux varietal here. Like Mataro sans sangre, with hints of syrah and garnacha. Clearly its own thing. The sweetness is enchanting, along with chocolate spice. Probably too fat, primary and hedonistic for the "adults." But drinking perfectly now...probably at its peak. Lovely, in a rustic, if not sordid sort way.

Muito frutado com notas de toffe e compota, bosque e ervas aromaticas. Bom volume e estrutura. Muito agradável. Ótimo momento de consumo mas pode ser guardado por mais 2 anos para observar a evolução.

Very drinkable now. Full body. Some comments compared it to a cab but I see it as more of a syrah. Went great with simple pan fried thick pork chops with pepper and garlic with pan roasted brocolli.

This wine continues to mature nicely. Dusty and chewy on open, relaxes with a day in the decanter, but still quite deep. Could easily be mistaken for a Cab, but with more minerals and earth rather than the fruit bomb variety. Score may go up in another year, it is aging well.

A jet black wine that manages to be both harmonious and assertive. Very deep and pure red fruit flavors married to a touch of wood and good minerality. Good length and stylish while still preserving an element of rusticity. Tannins are present but not obtrusive. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

I decanted the wine and it opened after about 20-30 min.
There is a prominent and attractive nose of cassis, cherry, vanilla and floral notes to name a few. This bouquet is actually quite complex and appealing.
On the pallet, there is jammy black currant, bakers chocolate, tobacco. This wine is still young and the tannins are prominent. The wine does have a lot to offer and I think it will continue to develop over the next 3-5 years.

Really inky, tarry nose. Quite a lush texture on the entry with some real grip on the mid palate. Nice simple black fruits, maybe a little baked at times. Very enjoyable.

Still drinking well, this bottle seemed a bit less interesting, but in no way over the hill.

Nice wine and good price (~$18 @ Costco). No highlights just a good wine with burgers.

Well structured with deep fruit up front without being overbearing. A nice surprise that would cause me to delve deeper...

Deep color and concentrated wine, not what I was expecting, perhaps could benefit of few years in the bottle

Tannic, earthy, black berries, flash of heat. Will probably better in another year or two.

This is a very enjoyable Spanish wine, has the depth and earthiness you would expect given the location.

Compared to the Buena Pinta this is more lush, more extracted, more tannic, just bigger. Doubting it's worth the increase in price. 14% ABV
