Spices on the nose. Fruit forward with blackberries and strawberry notes. Medium body with medium fine tannins. Soft bitter finish. Great on its own or with food.

{screwcap, 14%} Pretty decent effort for all of $10 I must say. Fresh, fruity nose; strawberries, vanilla, almost jam. Very clean. Palate is perhaps a little confected, with more of the sweet granache character coming though; it seems pretty dry (sweetness is all fruit rather than overt sugar), with mild dusty tannins, some acidity, and a short/medium finish with a tart twist at the end. At a fairly modest level of vinous ambition this hits a good mid-ground between the old and new world. Sound effort, but for the shorter term.
Alain Jaume & Fils (Ultimo wines basement room): Dark red and black fruit tending to fruit cake. Spice, slight peppery notes, clean, polished and with slightly savoury notes and olive hints. In the mouth the wine has flavours of red berries and spice over black pepper and black fruit notes. Fine talc like tannin on the mid palate and spice beings to dominate on the medium plus finish. Fresh. Easy. Pleasant

aroma - cherry, blueberry, raisins, fig, anise, light toast; taste - very chewy with dark dried fruits in middle, really nice mouthfeel
