  • The wine was medium ruby in colour and had a nice nose of red fruit, raspberry, kirsch, herbal notes, marzipan and mild spice. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine showed red and dark fruit, kirsch, garrigue, spices, black pepper and liquorice, with medium-level acidity, well-integrated tannin and good length. The medium-bodied wine had good concentration, in particular in the context of its classification, and drank well over a period of three days. Very good value! Drink now.

  • The wine was medium ruby in colour, leaning towards garnet. It offered red fruit and raspberry aromas as well as an intriguing combination of mild herbal notes, mild spice and mild liquorice on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, raspberry, kirsch, herbal notes, spice, black pepper and liquorice, with medium-level acidity, well-integrated tannin and good length. The medium-bodied, smooth and reasonable balanced wine had good varietal character. Grenache-driven, the Shiraz and Mourvèdre shone through. I preferred this 2005 to the 2010 I had a few days ago. A very good CdR. Amazing value! In a great place. Drink now.

  • Medium dark cherry color. Lots of bing cherry, some tannin, hot alcohol. Quite average.

  • Very light and fruity. The flavor really not very well rounded. Surprisingly shallow for a wine that is supposedly ready for consumption.

  • First taste, not so much - had a plan, drank a nice Gigondas first. Drank after it was open and breathing for 2 hrs. Really opened up - nice fruit and decent depth. Overpaid for this but not too dismayed.

(Grand Veneur Reserve CDR) Rhone Dear Friends, Sometimes you just need a terrific bottle of Cote du Rhone to add spice to an otherwise uninspired day - here’s a wine that will paint a picture of the South across your palate. We are constantly asked for inexpensive everyday wine of quality that will appeal to a large audience (for weddings, events or other). The price of Cote du Rhone has become much higher over the last few years and the price has almost doubled. Here’s a small token of Euro/Dollar relief that should be affordable to almost everyone on the email list and the wine is pretty darn good as well: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price 2005 Grand Veneur Cote du Rhone “Reserve” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone8810
