Taste: The feel is full bodied with tart, high acidity and slightly bitter, high tannins. There is good density to the feel with black cherries, black raspberries, spice notes, herbs, tobacco, leather, and violets.
Overall: This is a really lovely 2011. I've had some bitter and green 11s and this definitely isn't that. This could use a few more years to fully round into form.

this remains a very yummy bottle of volnay. Fruit in spades. I would like to see more wines like this on local restaurant lists. This was a burgundy bargain (you really do need the burgundy part) when bought at the domaine.

great accessible volnay. Could use additional cellar time to integrate all components, but this is already a very nice bottle of juice. drink next one in 2/3 years.

This overdelivered, fresh crisp red fruit, perfumed, slightly acidic. Needs 5 years i think. Excellent

Knightsbridge 2011 Burgundy Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Exactly what you want from a Volnay in a forward vintage, this was all about red fruit with sweet spice. Very pretty and nicely accessible. Very good.
