This 2011 Cecile Tremblay Vosne Romanee Les Rouges du Dessus started off slightly funky but got better with time. Tasted blind – Ripe dark plums and black cherry. Powerful with Grand cru weight, lots of oak spices. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was aged in 100% new oak. Mongeard Mugneret Richebourg 2009? (90/100)

On pnp the wine initially showed awkward - very thin and sour on the palate. Thankfully with little air (around 5 minutes) it turned around totally revealing sweeter fruit, very good acidity and crunchy cranberry. It turned out to be voted joint number 2 of the flight with Cathiard Reignots 09 by the group.
