Tward’s note from 2020 below captures this pretty well for us, and yet if I scored, I would place it higher. Our prior bottle was nearly 7 years ago. On opening this most recent, we got pleasant damp forrest underbrush/funk. Quite complex and layered. Highly enjoyable over three nights, although it lost a step on the second and third. We will try to wait at least a year before opening the next.

Tasted blind. Decanted. Med (-) ruby with a garnet hue. The nose has a little Brett and an oxidative note, showing a little age. Med intensity aromas of woody stems, tart red cherry, celery/ fennel, earth, mushroom, black tea, forest floor, leather, with subtle French oak spice and mocha. Dry, with med (+) acidity, med, slightly green tannins and med alcohol (13%). Overall, it is med bodied, with med (+) flavor intensity and length. Drink now, not likely to improve with further aging.
This is in fact 100% Pinot Noir, 100% de-stemmed (65% whole berries); aged for 16 mos. in barrel (67% one-year-old, 33% new). It is pretty clearly a cool climate, Old World wine. Possible varieties based on the color are Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Gamay and Nerello Mascalese. It lacks the elevated tannins, acidity and rose/tar aromas of Nebbiolo. It's a little too complex and intense and not dark enough to be a Beaujolais. It's not Nerello either, because stylistically, whole cluster ferment is not common in Sicily, and this wine lacks Nerello's classic volcanic note.

A great wine? No. But really elegant, classy, and nice on its own and at the table. The nose lead with iron rust and dried blood, hints of aging meat, and subtle stewed vegetables (and this was good!). Red fruits, linear and focused. Nice "natural funk". Some aged character coming through in the form of leather and and dried fruit. Medium-light fruit. Medium finish. Vibrant. You could do worse for mid-$30s USD in Burgundy with some age on it.

三个village里最差。没有pinot的气味。有点寡淡的糖水味。

A good drinker. It's drinking like a mature Burg. If you got them drink 'em up.
