very interesting Monticchio Riserva which surprises with its spicy notes at the palate and its pleasant hints of elegant and balanced oak. I do not remember a Monticchio like this. Silky, rich, juicy and seductive. Ripe red fruit, basically black cherries, melt with eucalyptus and exotic herbes. Strong character, very enjoyable. Outstanding bottle.

I remember a more typical Vigna Monticchio than this 2007. However this is a nice Sangiovese which is somehow mute at the nose while quite complex at the palate, with notes of leather and licorice other than roasted coffee and underwood. A little bit short on expectations

Notes of dark berries, stone fruit, a bit of leather, prune. Very balanced and lovely mello structure. Was fantastic with sirloin!
