Lovely and subtle. Nose has hints of mint, red berries, violets, and freshly cut wood. (I know, pretty weird, but that is what came to mind). The palate is subtle but lovely. Very soft at first with some nice dark fruits and mushrooms. A nice medium to long finish. Some subtle fine tannins. This was probably better a few years ago, but still a joy to drink.

Very interesting nose of herbs – brown and green, esp sage – with some stewed prunes and currants. There is a lovely balance on the nose – no brett, and no heat. The palate is similarly balanced – somewhat tight, with flavors of stewed red fruits that are still somewhat tightly wound. Some nice acidity, and still lip smacking tannins. This may have some years ahead of it.

disappointing at first. the funk, as i call it, was present in the aftertaste. the first impression was less than favorable, but with 30 minutes of breathing it came around.

i believe that this bottle may have been flawed as it didn't approach the intensity of the last two that i had. the 'funky' taste was still there but muted. some evidence of leaking on the cork.
