  A very nice glass of wine- The wine is refreshing - light - but still quite complex - the fruit is cherries, cranberries and clear hint of red currant. Still medium+ on tannins and acidity - but tannins are starting to soften af bit. Good balance. We are also getting menthol and hint of cedar-tree. We are staying at 93.

  First bottle from a recently purchased case. Really wanted to see how Ugolaia did in the challenging 07 vintage. Have had mixed experiences with Ugolaia, starting with a great 91 years ago to a very promising 06, with a solid 94 and the disappointing 95/96 duo in between. Pnp. This is a fairly light and clear garnet in the glass. On the nose initially horse stable and animal notes, later wood spices. Surprisingly red fruited on the palate, showing none of the telltale burned dark fruit notes so common in this hot vintage. Quite Burgundian in style. Reminds me of the 07 Poggio di Sotto which was excellent too in the context of the vintage but felt like an aromatically diluted version of the greater vintages... still a very good 07

  A cherry nose with some spices - the palette is more powerfull - medium+ acidity and tannins - well integrated and the wine is having a good long aftertaste - a quality wine that deserves very solid 93. When the acidity soften a bit there could clearly be room for higher rating.
