At first I thought this might have lost some fruit. It drank with touches of underripe fruit - almost watery - but there was enough intrigue - it had freshness and acidity. On 2nd day, this put on weight and became a lovely mid weight expression. It really grew on me, and before you know it was gone. It doesn't have that special extra something, but this is an excellent wine.

These 2011 Arterberry Maresh Pinots, as a group, are some of my favorite Oregon Pinots ever. Still beautifully structured, this is really starting to open. The nose just pops with bright red fruit, mixed with some more savory notes. Taste is also red fruited, think sour cherry and cranberry. Still room for improvement as the fruit and structure are not perfectly seamless. But that's a quibble and only makes me look forward to drinking the next bottle a few years later. Blind, I would think this was a very good village burg from a medium warm year.

Monthly Tasting Group: Blind Pinots Worldwide (The Dakota, Mpls, MN): Medium red color. Tasting pour, blind over an hour. Totally wrong on this one, wasn't really sure what it was, Cali, maybe a young Burg. Neither. Mineral, rocky, ripe cherry, berry, hints of brett, sour cherry. This had a lot of heat and big tannins, sauvage, cherry. Very tightly wound. Previous notes hopefully are correct in this needing more time. However, many of the 2011's are showing great now, so this does worry me a bit as to where its going. 87-88pts?

Popped and poured with beef kabobs and mushroom risotto. Reserved nose of pretty red fruit. Nice weight on the palate but compact and closed down. Drinkable, for sure, but in need of additional time in the cellar to show its best.
