Deep straw, verging on gold. Brilliant, and clearly aged. Fantastic nose: red apples, grape and lemoncurd, a whiff of vanilla, and some beautiful mineral tones of slate and petroleum. Smells almost like a sweet wine without botrytis. The attack on the palate, however, is bone dry. Lots of apples and citrus up front, high acidity that makes for a salivating mid-part filled with orange, citrus, red apples and slate. Almost tannic on the finish, still with lots of life. The aftertaste is long, bone dry, and marked by citrusy and petroleum tones. Remarkably young in the mouth. This has really only started to age, and I guess that the mineral tones will become clearer in five years or so. I have been bit skeptic towards the aging potential of dry Rieslings, but this wine clearly reduces that skepticism. Beautiful wine.

On the nose, there were subtle ripe, yellow stone and citrus fruits; but mainly the wine was very smoky and stony.
In the mouth, there was a nice melting texture; very powerful. Here, too, the fruit was rather restrained. Instead, the wine was on the chalky, very mineral side; it seemed almost dark-smoky to me. At the end there was a beautiful phenolic flavour with a pleasantly integrated, medium acidity. The wine was very complex with a very long finish.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2012 - Part II (Concept Riesling, Düsseldorf): Glass: Gabriel Standard Tasted blind. Clear, medium golden color. Smoky and more complex nose than Keller. On the palate more precision and tension as Keller’s counterpart. Same warm and sweet fruit, beautiful ,mineral core, long and lingering finish. 93+

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2012 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Clear, pale golden color. Stony, mineral nose. On the palate a surprisingly beautiful Kirchspiel that is mainly focused on its structure and mineral core. Deep, nice tension and very long. Drink now – 5 years. 92-93
