Nose on bread crust, autolysis and an oxidative touch.
Effervescence still active.
In the mouth, we feel the champagne at its peak. the whole is harmonious, with pear and brioche that intertwine in a high quality juice. It is intense and totally untied on a beautiful freshness. Chalky finish that I would have liked longer to take it to the next level.

Champagne Bookclub (served blind)--Rob (Water Grill in Costa Mesa): Been about 3 years since I had this wine. That last note is still pretty valid for the bottle we had blind last night. There is some oxidative quality here, with some pear and brioche. It's holding ip pretty well for 20 years old but my sense is that this is peaking. Some pounded rock/chalk in the texture that gives this some structure but mostly this feels resolved to me.

Focused and balanced, and very good. I actually believe it is more 2008 than 2002. Great length, and no need to drink if you have more. I really enjoyed this!

(Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Champagne Special Club Millesimé de Collection) Light yellow color with tiny bubbles; focused, baked apple, poached pear nose; tasty, poached pear, baked apple palate; medium-plus finish
(Pierre Gimonnet et Fils "Spécial Club de Collection" Brut) ($108.00) My notes are consistent about how incipient this wine is, in contrast to the generally friendly open nature of ’02. This is disgorged 12/10, and one feels it ready to erupt like popcorn kernels in a hot popper. It’s almost got the Magnum-personality even in bottle. Patience is needed, and will, I think, be justified.
