Well made, nice balanced fruit, richness and acidity. Tropical fruit, cashew and peach. Buttery. Well handled oak. Drinking at peak. Another 2-3 years of plateau methinks.

Again near identical hues to the 2001 Petalumas. Nose is quite lifted and a touch funky. Some fragrant spicy oak but essentially fruit driven. A little disjointed in the mouth, some upfront sweet fruit but does fall away noticably. Some heat, burns a little. Underlying oak is nice but this wine does not show the balance of the Petalumas.

Bannockburn Vertical Tasting - Chardonnay, Pinot & Shiraz (Royal Automobile Club, Sydney): Better body than the ‘01 - fuller, richer, creamier and more intense but retains balance. Well integrated oak treatment. Good structure and should get better with additional bottle age complexity.
