Uh. Not very good. Loads of syrupy, mulled black fruits, pepper, and vanilla. Body is very full, viscous, heat on the finish. Simple and one dimensional- should have drank years ago.

Mike Smith Tasting (Carter Cellars, Calistoga): Tasting with Mike Smith at Carter Cellars. This is a unique Petite. Full sweet nose of blueberry compote and brown sugar. Palate is smooth, rich and long. Tannin is cloaked and fruit is more light/lifted than any other Petite I've come across, particularly at this young age. Blackberry, licorice and spice notes. Long finish.
