Decent pop-and-pour quaffer, but more in the simple, international-styled new world vein than something really characterful. The nose was a pleasant enough melange of sweet blueberries, smoky spice and then mint and eucalyptus herb. On the palate, chewy, slightly powdery tannins and decent acidity were draped over simple but decent enough flavours of blueberries and spice leading into a warm finish. Drinkable, but simple and nondescript.

{screwcap, 14%} Wow, this is on the shelves early. Can't have been too much 2011 to go around... Deep garnet. Fruity nose, blackberries and cherries; not a lot of Clare mint or eucalypt. Has quite mild powdery tannins, medium acid; is about medium-bodied and doesn't taste too fruity on the palate. Still, it's no more than a decent new-world red; a perfectly satisfactory BBQ wine to drink without much thought.
