Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 88 points

  • A big and rich wine, with almost no trace of Cabernet Sauvignon. That's where Barossa screws up often. You get these Cabs that have blurred lines in front of them, leading to "obvious" indications of Shiraz. This poured into the glass like ink. Black as night. Huge, pronounced nose of ripe dark fruits, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, charred wood. Palate is thick and heavy with a generous touch of sweetness and an acidity that's struggling to come into focus. Tannins are soft and almost non-existent. Wood is well-integrated with the fruit, but this is just too much overall to enjoy a bottle of. Needs more acid at least, to brighten things up a bit.
