Agree with general thread in comments re: high acidity, that to me makes the wine ultimately unbalanced--I enjoy acid edge, but this wine goes over the line and the acid overpowers fruit, especially on the finish. Otherwise good, and indeed we finished the bottle with no complaint.

HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): I've loved the 2012 WK Praedikat wines, and WK is one of my favourite new wave German producers, but this really didn't work for me at all. Thin and mean, with no fruit to balance out the heightened acidity. Teeth-stripping. I think that the 15s we tasted at the estate have gotten much better; my understanding is that this bottling has gotten a bit more and more skin contact, filling it out.

This is a very acidic wine, which I tend to like, but this did not appeal to me very much. It did improve somewhat on the second day, with a slightly more aromatic noise reminiscent of Granny Smith apples I recently drank their Ellergrub Kabinett, which I enjoyed very much and was much more food friendly.

Drunk as aperitif, no formal tasting note. Can't say much about the nose, which seems to me to be fine, classic, with some anise notes, overall not very expressive (but I have a cold). On the palate it is light, but has a great acid grip, without being aggressive. Lemony and with lemon zest on the finish, with a very light and fine chalky texture. Loooong finish. Lovely.
