In a lot of ways, this wine is everything that the incredibly singular wines from Weiser-Künstler are all about. There is nothing obvious or easy here. This wine, like so many others from Konstantin Weiser and Alexandra Künstler, is all about clarity, elegance, and as pure of a reflection of the steep slopes from which this wine comes from as possible. Don’t get me wrong though, this was absolutely fantastic and I love their wines because they are such a beautiful contradiction - absolutely airy and ethereal while being so deeply soulful and mineral. This was so fresh, with beautiful herbal notes to counter mineral salinity, Asian pears, mint, and delicately spiced. What a beautifully filigreed bottle of wine. The bright acidity of the wine paired extremely well with some homemade schnitzel. I am getting excited about an upcoming trip to Germany and wanted to test my schnitzel game in preparation. I have to say that I am pretty happy with the results!

We were having this bottle along with several others over a boozy sunny lunch, so I knew there would not be that much attention for watching it develop. I therefore decided to give this an extended decant, which I would not normally do, preferring in the glass observation time. We ended up drinking this after about 3-4 hours of air, and it needed every bit of it. Still young and intense, but not painful or aggressive as I feared it might be. There's a good deal of dense fruit and great mineral brightness alongside some darker notes and a weighty mid-palate, spruced up at the edges with some fun spicy notes. Great persistence on the finish, especially as it continued to open. Hold these another couple of years for sure - terrific wine in the making, lots of potential for what I expect will be a nicely balanced and precise wine.

This is not an easy wine to assess and professional opinions are very different. MFW scores this wine a whopping 93 points, whereas Vinum awards a very cautious 87 points. I guess it's down to your view on the strong herbaceous notes in this wine and the concomitant bitters. MFW don't say a word about this, which I find odd. It is impossible to miss. Is there bottle difference? I go with Vinum, because I don't like the green notes, and I don't think that they will disappear. (87). Note: I kept the open bottle in the fridge for three days and the herbaceous bitters did soften, even if they did not disappear. I liked it a lot better in this way, hence a higher score.

Almost painfully young at this point and a little disjointed. The pieces were there though. The citrusy bergamot notes were prominant and a rush of herbaceous perfume. But the palate at times would be rich and at other times be acidic. This is a very good wine, but just have to be patient.

This is a wonderful wine. Dry, very mineral, better on day 2 with a length and perfume that was excellent.
