  • Opened (kinda) blind by Paul. I accidentally saw this bottle on the counter, so not blind for me. An incredibly youthful wine that belied its age (and shows what well stored older Burgundy can be). Very much in the Leroy house style - not that I'm a regular Leroy drinker by any means. Big, with extract and spices, but very balanced. Colin (an 89 birthyear) guessed this as a 90 1er cru from Gevrey/Nuits, which is damned impressive. Feels like a bigger vintage, but that's the Leroy house style. Pretty amazing for a village, and very generous from Paul.

  • (Bottle 839/2850) 1 of 3 purchased from Brown Derby in 1996.

Bright ruby color, initial nose filled with fresh red fruit and floral notes, as with many of her NSGs they seem to have more in common with Her Vosne Romanees than NSGs of other wine makers. Fresh high toned red fruit, laced with spice and earth. Nice structure and balance, lovely texture and a long finish. A remarkable village NSG, bravo...

  • Have been in the mood for Burgundy lately and I happened to spot this in my cellar while I was pulling some other bottles. Absolutely beautiful bottle. Floral scents with violets and roses, a lovely earthy underbrush tone on the nose. Bright red toned fruit, cinnamon and spice with a cherry backbone. Just got better and betterover time. Perfect balance, luscious fruit and a long finish. Plush yet sharp. A terrific effort.
