  • A lovely wine , but it requires patience and presence. Bottle and fill excellent, cork soaked to the top. Not decanted, but this definitely needs time to slowly unwind in a large (the big one) burgundy glass. Austere and offering little at the outset, but over 2 hours it slowly unwound with subtle, earth and wonderful burg aromas. This is fully mature and lighter in constitution, but it has that perfect burg balance. It definitely needs and enhances appropriate food. Robert Parker would not like this wine. A fine partner to prime rib and root vegetables. There is excellent terroir fidelity in this wine as well as many other 1987s .

  • Fully mature, holding on to the gloss of the fruit to complement its elegant, supple texture but with all the flavors segued into pure umami, mushroom broth and miso with a horsey scent adding pleasant funk.

  • Tasting of 6 Red Burgundy.
Viscous in the glass, fruity, bacon nose, fruity, open in the mouth but needs age, great finish with medium tannins. Retail $55.26.
    My #1 of 6.
