Just had a small pour but I didn't really enjoy this. Some heat in the aromatics and on the palate. Tart, sour fruit, some spice. Tannins resolved.

clear, red, orange, in the color. dark fruit, blueberry, licorice, pepper, cedar, vanilla, toast, smoke, oak, on the nose. soft tannins on the finish.
No contemporaneous notes - was very popular, fruit forward, balanced, nicely aged. Drinking very well.
Popped and poured. Great right out of the gate. Reminded me why I like these grapes.
The OC Blind Wine Crew goes Italian (Il Barone Ristorante, Newport Beach, CA): Served blind. Notes of sweet candy, chocolate, violets and wet paint on the nose with some vanilla oak notes later on. Sweet ripe palate of baked fruits showing strong acidity but still seeming soft overall. Would have guessed much younger, this showed like a very young big Cali wine.
