  • On the nose, fresh green peas, stone, herbal and briny notes, with some subtle florals in the background. More about vegetable and stone than fruit. Gossamer and graceful on the palate, this is a wine that conveys complexity without overt power. Multifaceted, filigree fine texture in its light to mid weight frame. More stones, peas, fresh white pepper, on the palate. It's lifted, with beautiful acid - stony notes. A harmonious complicated wine that drinks like mineral water. Texturally reminds me of a Saar Riesling or Chambolle in a minimalist producers hands. An effortless, finely etched wine more about soil and vegetable than fruit that subtly whispers and draws you in. Also a wine that would be completely missed in a comparative tasting or with wines with more overt nature. Love it. Also, it's hard to think of a wine that would have paired better with my dinner of sliced perfectly ripe tomatoes, olive oil and salt.

Day two some more floral notes developed, but it otherwise stayed delicious.

  • Chenin study (et al.) (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Overall a fairly neutral wine, to the point that chardonnay probably wouldn't have been too bad a guess. There is a slight spicy thing going on, and overall I thought it had the weight of an Austrian wine (as it didn't have the thickness of Alsace and it just didn't taste German to me). However, I was working with the thought that this was a fairly neutral riesling, but after the reveal, I suppose I could pick out a little more of the GV white pepper thing on the nose and palate.

  • Blind käme ich wohl weder auf GV noch auf Wachau!! Das ist anders und besonders. Sehr balanciert, konzentriert und in sich ruhend. Kein lauter Wein! Richtig mit etwas Gerbstoff, fast leicht kalkig. Noch jung!! Toll!! 93-94 P
