Young nose with ripe fruit, dark berries, leather, dried berries, and bell pepper. The palate is lovely with medium tannins, dark cherries, cassis, a hint of plums, and tart fruit. Long finish. Very good wine that's maybe a little ripe (I detected a little bit of heat on the nose, despite the 12.5% abv) but well put together. It should age well.

Lovely colour. Still looks young. On the nose, there are red fruits, vegetal notes, mushrooms, a touch of silkiness. The palate is still fresh, vegetal notes again, earthy - moss. Some mushrooms again. Blackcurrant. Very interesting the mixture of youthfulness and tertiary aromas. Incredible balance. Stylistically, it's not far off left bank, though it's interesting that even in a hot year it's very fresh, more so than a Bordeaux. You can drink this now but it still seems very youthful, so it should improve over the next 5-10 years. 93

Of the three or four bottles of Rougeard I've enjoyed, this one tasted the best upon opening, making no apologies for its youth. Flavors of ripe green pepper, herbs, dehydrated red fruit. The light-mid weight and great length made this a rather intellectual wine, one for philosophers not hedonists. My friend and I concluded that this vintage can be fully enjoyed now. Maybe it'll improve with time, but we found it singing now.

Bouteille extraordinaire! C’est mûr et fin, la texture est sublime, aérienne, un vin à la fois puissant et très civilisé, très savoureux, la finale toute en finesse. Grand vin. 95 pts

Wine Workshop: Focus on Clos Rougeard (Cafe Evergreen): Classy old school style of wine. Brambles and darker fruits and herbs and all of that. There’s a nice structure and lightness to this wine. Drinking quite well.
