45 minute decant. Attractive deep red - deeper than most nebbiolo. Cherries, rose and tar on the nose, similar on the palate, with a rustic feel. This was a bit sharp on the finish. Maybe the tannins need a bit more time to resolve.

Reviewing 2009 Barolo (2nd Event) (Mario's House - Madrid): Interesting Barolo with well-defined aromas of tar, withered roses, cherries or espresso coffee. On the palate it is "more modern", more abundant, velvety and still somewhat closed. Recommended.
Interesante Barolo con aromas bien definidos a brea, rosas marchitas, cerezas o café espresso. Al paladar es "más moderno", más abundante, aterciopelado y todavía algo cerrado. Recomendable.

Very old school Barolo. Initially a little musty and dank, with a very herbaceous component. It wafts out of the glass with a nose of dried rosemary, thyme, sage, tea leaves, forest floor and a floral quality that is completely intoxicating. It really starts to hum after a few minutes in the glass, with dried cherry and cranberry complemented by a bright acidity and smooth tannins. Very surprising and quite enjoyable.

Ripe and classic nose. Still tight with firm tannins. Enjoyable without being overly complex. Will probably benefit from another three+ years.

Barolo Cannubi with James Suckling (Domani, Hong Kong): Light nose. Not particularly intense on the palate either. Some tannins but pretty underwhelming in the company.
