  • Ruby with amber at the edges. Fruit mostly gone now, nevertheless good toasty, even somewhat leathery notes with decent finish. Drink now.

  • Brick red with feathered coloring to edges.
Nose was faint balsamic vinegar at first, then thyme, smoked meat, fennel, and a bit of mint.
After 1 hour, palate was dark red fruits with very smooth tannins.
After 3 hours, plumbs and violets bloomed. Floral nose.
Ate with whole grain mustard and rosemary coated purple potatoes that were roasted, then drizzled with fresh parsley and olive oil at the table. This was the most successful pairing. Held up ok with rack of lamb that was rubbed with lemon zest, garlic, rosemary, and Herbs de Provence. Pan seared and finished to rare side of medium-rare in the oven.
Rack of Lamb was plated on a bed of arugula with lemon juice, which went very well with the lamb - cut threw any gameyness- but added bitterness to the Barolo. The perfect bite was just meat and potato followed by wine.

Also paired with 2007 Skouras Megas Oenos Agiorytiko and it was the more successful pairing, as it is younger and less delicate, but has been open for 4 days.
Opaque garnet color, cherry on the palate, with a touch of oak in the finish. With the lamb and potatoes, it held up well and brought more fruit. After the salted herbs de Provence, got more plum.
