Brick red in color. Somewhat transparent. Clear signs of age, but also crystalline and clear. Nose improved over a few hours. Decanted and served about an hour after opening. Needed more like 3-4 hours. Really started to sing at the end of the evening when most was already gone unfortunately. Nose was rich, with mostly secondary notes over an undertone of dark cherry and red fruits. Brown spice and old leather, crush flowers, and a touch of brown sugar and vanilla. Really amazing nose. Palate is slightly sour cherry, with the fruit definitely waning but still there. Soft supple tannins that have fully integrated and subdued to a backbone of acidity. Amazing stuff. Probably past prime but very enjoyable.
