Serious meaty, smoky Syrah. This has all the hallmarks of a Northern Rhône but has a subtle lift and smoothness that really makes you think. Superb meaty aromas with a little blackberry and violet but not overly peppery. I could drink this all night.

Drink or hold. Still youthful. While drinkable shortly after opening, a long, 3 hour decant, significantly helped flesh out the fruit and texture. Silky, smooth, round, texture, with subtle, soft tannins. Layers of balanced ripe, darker fruit and savory nuances of olives, crushed stone, mild black pepper, charred wood and meat jus. Elegant overall, with good concentration, depth and refined texture. Lingering finish, without feeling heavy or cloying. A well-made, Northern Rhone inspired, Sonoma Coast Syrah. Paired perfect with Filet, Demi-glacé and garlic potatoes. Overall, impressive style and grace.

Medium plus nose shows black pepper, olive, blackberry, game, crushed violets. Palate confirms pepper and black fruit, juicy acidity, medium alcohol is restrained, fresh black earth, this is a lighter style with dark fruit, soft medium tannins, finishes medium plus. Interesting in that it's a hint of Rhone with CA style.

Tasted at Red Car tasting room. Solid wine for the money.
