A bit dark and gloomy nose showing ripe strawberry, cooked plum, blackberry, garrigue spice, tobacco, brown spice and dry soil.
Somewhere above mid-weight with firm tannins and a bit weak acidity. Sun-ripe red and black fruit, garrigue herbs, tobacco and some warmth from the alcohol. Very good intensity and persistence.
The sun-ripe fruit, spice and alcohol led me to Grenache-based blend from Rhône or Languedoc. Maybe not so bad of a call since Desjourneys doesn't really make the most typical Beaujolais-wines. Not the most inspiring wine I've had from this producer. Maybe time to drink up?

Never ever judge a wine by the region or grape. A few years since my last taste and I must say I don't get this wine at all. Time has done nothing to this bottle.
Perfyme dominated, wild and raw on the nose with almond icing, viols, sundried tomatoes, lingon berries and cooked cherries.
On the palate the wine has a slim figure with dry, raw tannins. Lacks some fruit that might bloom with time? Blind I would go for a barbaresco with some age for sure. Very tightly built wine that still feels too young to drink. Gamay? Beaujolais? Wow, would never guess that.

Mirazur restaurant, Velo Roussillon cycling trip (Menton, France): I seem to like this more than many other reviews, as it had a lot of depth and complexity, but I'd knock it for some excess heat and cola-like bite. Without that, would be closer to 95.
