The winery calls this the zin-lover's Spanish variety, and I can see why. Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Very deep blackish garnet color. Nice nose of black and white pepper, black cherries, sweet oak. Full-flavored on the palate, with medium body and dark flavors that lean more toward spices than blackberry fruits. Acid balance is on the soft side of firm, which means that it's not firm but not soft either. Finishes quickly and softly with some white pepper and very low tannins. Acids have softened somewhat since I last tasted this wine. It's a slurper, not very complicated, but quite delicious in a rich sort of way.

Wonderful wine with rich fruitiness. Nice job with the Graciano grape! However, I was expecting a little more complexity for the price I paid. If I paid 1/2 what I did, it would be a great value. I don't think the structure lends itself to aging. It is a drink now wine (or at least within the next couple of years).

Very deep garnet with lots of purple. Blackberry nose, with more blackberries. After awhile, some herbal notes creep in, arriving late to the party and blending in rather than crashing the door. Clear black fruits lead on the palate, with coffee and vanilla in the far background. Firm acids, a good structure. Finishes with light-medium grip and low but not zero tannins. A fruit-forward wine toward the dark end of the spectrum. Lots of commentary on the 2011 CA reds is about bad weather and barely ripe grapes. This wine belies that, somehow, with fruity richness. The structure is such that if you forgot a bottle for a few years, it would still be fine.
