I think that the Darioush 2011 shirazes are starting to hit their stride; the tannins have become softer and less astringent; while the fruit is less pronounced than other vintages, there a pleasant notes of blackberry, cocoa and white pepper.

Dark, inky purple in color. Was looking for a more savory, and less fruity syrah to pair with dinner. Found it in the 2011. Not my favorite syrah, and 2011 was such a challenge...but there are situations where the more austere wines are a better fit with certain meals. Don’t see the wine improving going forward, but also think that it will remain it is current state for at least 3 more years.

Drinking great right now. Rich, intense, and smooth blackberry and blueberry flavors. Subtle spice on the long finish. I think this is at it's peak.

Typical for the vintage, with green herbal notes and dry tannins. Dark fruit and spice flavors, minerals, tight finish.
