This is as good as it gets. Beautiful Malbec at peak. Powerful and yet harmonious on the nose with a core of black plum and blackberry wrapped around evolving notes of mushroom, earth and cracked belt leather.
Powerful, persistent acidity are met with fully integrated and softened alcohol and tannins.
Spectacular length.
At peak. Drink now.

Sweet, ripe and extracted with integrated oak, some green and stemmy notes keep it interesting. Decent structure. Excellent example of this style. Lots of runway left.

Didn’t know much about this wine, but needed something to celebrate the birth of our newest follower! Stopped by Paul’s since it was right by the hospital and picked up this bottle on recommendation of the manager from their back room, not on shelfs. You might notice the similarities in label, but a Mendoza effort from the French family that owns and operates Chateau Leoville Poyferre. A blend of 70% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 5% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. _________ Enticing nose of sweet fruit that previews a simple fruit bomb. However, the palate really tells a different story. Definitely fruit forward with beautiful ripe red fruit, but nicely balanced with the more savory elements of tobacco, earth, and finishing with stone and minerals. I believe this is still on the upswing with tannins that pull everything together remaining and should likely be drunk between now and 2021. Really a fine effort.
