Disappointed with this one. Youngish and pale ruby color. Sweet Cherry and cloves nose with some cola notes. Medium body, soft with slight but not intrusive tannins. Dry and Very sweet black Cherry mouthfeel. Very linear wine. No complexity. Medium length. Disappointed with the lack of complexity. Maybe need few more years.

Pop and pour. In the glass, deep, clear violet, red, shading to dark red at the core. On the nose, cherry, blackberry, clove, and nutmeg. On the palate, dark cherries, damp earth, and a bit more clove, a bit heavier and more full-bodied than other Paul Lato wines I remember, with a moderately long finish. Quite nice, if you don't mind the heaviness.

Blackberry is the best way to describe the color. Just a darker ruby, as CA Pinots tend to go. The fruit-forward nose is blackberry and cherry, with some spice, white pepper and a floral note.
The palate is dark cherry and boysenberry up front with mushroom, spice and lavender. The oak comes in on the back in a complementary way, with vanilla and caramel. I also find the acid in very good balance to the alcohol, filling out the body. The finish is long and lingering--a minute plus.
This bottle is nicely resolved, but has years of life left. It was perfect with mushroom and asparagus risotto.
Day 3: Anise, mushroom, toast, honeysuckle and black fruit on the nose. More cola and chocolate on the palate. Superb.

This was big, ripe… surprising compared to other lighter wines I’ve had from this producer.

Some Wine Tasted During the Chicago Air & Water Show Warm-ups (Montrose Harbor - Chicago IL): Charming spice-driven nose with floral notes and plenty of sweet red cherry. Same sweet red cherry flavors with slightly less spice. Good+ weight with a sweet note on its finish with good length. Best to enjoy now. I enjoyed this more when tasted just after release.
