  • I pulled this one out because A. I love Gun Bun, B. the drinkability report had it expired in 2006 and C. I smoked a tri-tip of beef and wanted something that would match to go with it.
Now my cellar and wine storage is very good and has been since I bought all my wines, which might give me some better life on my wines.
The cork was slightly softer than ideal when i ran in the worm but it came out in absolutely perfect condition and that was the shape the wine was in too.
I don't have another bottle of this wine (I hate that too) but if I did I would not be in a hurry to drink it. It was very mature but didn't lack tannins though they were perfectly balanced. To the best of my tasting ability I would agree with the last reviewer.
If it were left up to me I would extend the drinking window to 2015.
A GREAT bottle of wine. Drank it over 3-4 hours, poured a taste as soon as I opened it and it was good but barely off which had cleared up at my second taste after 15 minutes in the open bottle. by the time the food was on it was drinking wonderfully and when we tasted it along with dinner we were in heaven:-) Or close. A great wine.

    Cork 1/2 way liquid sign.

    Look: '99 bricked rim.

Nose: Blackberry pie with some cedar and vanilla. A touch of eucalyptus.

    Body: 2% milk.

Taste: Blackberry, vanilla, plum, cedar, lt. blueberry. Moderate tannins.

    Finish: 1 min 50 seconds.

My oldest Gun Bun and first Rhinefarm so far.

I have generally Not been a Gun Bun fan, but this baby has the goods.

Now I know why this vineyard is so well rated.

    Lovely now.

Could likely cellar a couple more yrs, but you might want to check on re-corking if needed.

    92 pts.

More like a 2000 Arns than the smoother big but sexier Tom Eddy '97.
