  • Dark garnet. A bit of a medicinal nose with dark fruits, but menthol, cedar, and spice prevalent. Quite juicy and full, more of a meat axe and not a dagger. Palate tiring. Seemingly well made, nice texture.

  • Liked it, didn't love this wine. At least, not at this point anyhow. Unexpectedly ripe and somewhat jammy rich. Maybe, with time this comes together better and sings?? ALC 14%. Ha, I got sucked in by the very cool old school packaging but, the wine inside is actually much more modern in style. Reminds me too much of a Dugat Py Gevrey Chambertin or a Pavie. A little over the top at this point. The producer's notes, which I should have read first, call it "opulent and sensual". Not, tasting notes I gravitate towards:). Sadly, also a poor pairing with Nita's Dijon chicken and shrooms hoagies tonight. Should have reached for a red Burg or Cru Beaujolais. Paid $25 and was hoping to love this wine. Only bought one btl from K&L who has a great Rioja selection. K&L is a great place to get a mixed six pack of Riojas you may not have tried before.

  • The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like petrol, oak, lead pencil and chocolate. It tastes like mineral, petrol, stoniness, oak, lead pencil and tar. The body is light/medium. The wine has bright texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity. extremely overwhelming mineral and lead pencil flavors. Not notes. Far too strong to call them notes. I do not like this wine.

  • Oak far too strong for my taste - overpowered any fruit.

  • Mint and smoke with some new French oak showing through (?), maybe some brett. Some tasters are not liking it, I actually am very much so, but there is controversy here for those who love the old style.
