Almost old world with it's pauillac like graphite and pencil and dark tannic fruit. But it veers back towards .CA with it's copious amount of blackberry and blueberry. Absolutely no wood besides a supporting note and no heat whatsoever. Brilliant wine. And 2011 to boot! Probably the top wine of this wretched vintage.

Wish I hadn't opened this. My first A-R Cab after a number of Chards, Syrahs & Pinots. Just absolutely delicious, perfect balance from nose to finish, could have passed for a Corison but was clearly not from Napa, if you can reconcile those two. My sadness is that, now I have to buy more, and of course it's not cheap, but such is life.

Most powerful nose of the bunch. Tons of graphite overshadows the black fruit. Very rich and mouth filling. The fruit comes though a lot more on the palate, although the pencil shavings are still there. Quite high acid. Great now, tough to guess at aging potential.

Wanted to check in on an AR before the release next week. A little bit of funk when first opened, thought a touch of bret actually, but it blew off quickly with some air. C was still convinced there was something there later, while I did not, which is opposite of how we usually view things. Strange. Anyhoo... some dark fruits, maybe a little tart cherry mixed in, some floral and savory elements to it, great acidity. Grew on me for sure, C liked but not as much as I did. I will say I was surprised at the price I paid here... had in my head it was cheaper. I'm sure they'll still get me for a few bottles next week though :)
