Better than the first (see prev note). Less chalky. More cassis and ripe fruit. Slightly longer finish. Both bottles stored together and drunk weeks apart so not sure the reason for bottle variation.

Beautiful colour - deep ruby red/ garnet with slight bricking at the rim. Legs very evident, almost viscous in structure.
Nose: slight VA at first but dissipated quickly. Oak aromas are immediate, punctuated with leather and earthy, even gravely notes. There’s a fine balance between fruit and floral, with dark fruit (cassis, plum) ever present.
Palate: medium bodied. More black fruit, oak and some leather, tobacco notes but the balance is off and the wine feels dull and slovenly. The mouthfeel is chalky and the finish very short - not overtly tannic but generally rather bitter and austere.
Not sure if it was the 500ml bottle but this felt like it had maybe seen better days. I certainly remember this being better at the winery (in 2019). I have another bottle that I will open in a year or so but this was a bit of a misfire.

Plum, red cherry, hints of menthol and dill. Oak and a long finish. Excellent — much more developed than last time. May be at peak.

No formal notes. Enjoyed this bottling over two days. Gained a little weight on day two with slow ox in the bottle. Savory dark fruit.
Might be peaking soon. Drink over the next few years if you want some fruit to showing after slow ox.
