I'm not totally on board with this Washington State Syrah. This just doesn't fit the profile of what I have experienced from them before. I'm giving it an 86 because of the relatively dedcent fruity finish it had after being opened a little over 24 hours. At first taste I decided to pour the glass back into the bottle and use the vinturi. Then, I poured that glass back in and used the vinturi a second time. I am not a fan of the flavors and aromas, but will give this one a chance. The nose has considerable heat, and even a hint of VA, both of which interfere with the fruit. The color is extremely dark purple. The palate is ripe, almost syrupy blackberry and mulberry. More air improves the taste of the wine, but it still has issues. The next day, things are closer to typical with a lingering blackberry taste from lips to finish. A weak mid palate gives more credence to the possible presence of VA. Some nice ripe tannins. Not much influence from oak. Kind of an unripe tangerine flavor with the blackberry fruit on the finish. I'm just not feeling this wine.

3 Excellent value. For $8, this Syrah delivers true varietal depth and spice. Dark fruit and forward with subtle tannins on the finish. Buy for Tuesday night.

Deep garnet purple edges, aromatic nose offered a smokiness at opening with dark fruits, palate was juicy with plum, dark berries and notes mocha with a hint of spice. Finish is long, very nice come home to syrah that would with any hearty dish.

After being open a day, this became a fruity, food-friendly delight with poultry.
