Very intense and somewhat translucent dark ruby color with a pale, almost colorless rim. Quite dark-toned and rather fruit-forward nose with attractive, juicy aromas of ripe dark berries, some black cherries, a little bit of black raspberries and a hint of sweet blackberry marmalade. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and quite acid-driven on the palate with rather vague, red-fruited flavors of cranberries, some sour cherries and hints of assorted, tart forest fruits. The wine is a bit straightforward and very juicy, but not particularly expressive - more savory and a bit mineral in style. The acidity feels high and the medium tannins are firm and moderately grippy. The finish is quite long, lively and somewhat bitter with some tannic grip and savory flavors of fresh blackcurrants and blackberries, a little bit of earth and a hint of stony minerality.
A nice, serious and savory Gamay. Not one to challenge the best producers of Cru Beaujolais, but one that offers good alternative to better Beaujolais-Villages or lesser producers of Cru Beaujolais. Nice, crunchy stuff that might continue to develop nicely in a cellar. Solid value at a tad under 10€.

Napa Trip; 1/1/2016-1/3/2016 (Napa Valley, CA): Pale ruby; nice cherry fruit, slight floral aromatics, slight apple, elegant; palate is light bodied, medium acid, light tannin, cranberry, simple palate; medium finish. Very nice for the price, everyday wine. A gamay that I like... 87-88

More French Gamay, Beaujolais and Otherwise (SF Wine Trading Company): Translucent, clear ruby throughout. Berry and rose aromatics. Light to medium weight but quite a nice texture. Cranberry fruit, herbs, and a drier, tannic finish. Good complexity and savoriness comparatively speaking, probably better in another year or two.

Un gamay encore assez serré, solaire (fruits noirs) et frais. C'est joli, pur, bien fait.
J'attendrais presque encore un peu avant de les sortir...

Two Weekend Loire Tastings; 10/2/2015-10/3/2015 (Dig Wines and San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Light ruby. Clean berry fruit and some spice. More weight and sap than most Beaujolais, but similarly tart, cranberry finish. Delightful to sip.
