  • Purple juice, looks young. Blue fruits express with dust/earth/cocoa. Medium intensity nose with alcoholic warmth. Dry wine with white pepper, blue fruits, astringent drying tannins, acid kick to close. Medium intensity (no Barossa/Mclaren OTT richness here). Most definitely a food wine, ideally suited to lamb where it would soften up and clean the mouth and cut clean the animal fats. Fruit just a tad reserved or more specifically there is a green herbaceous edge that detracts from higher points, perhaps not full physiological ripeness rather than stem bunches in ferment (that tastes subtly different to this ie normally adds complexity and a stemmy/stalky/rhubarby complexity). Clearly has 5 years to full integration but I won't promise it will scale up in points just smooth in.

  • Negociants Australia New Release Tasting: Pepper, blackberry and some sappiness. Has that same pepper kick on the palate. Nice length. This would be better with food than on its own in a tasting.
