Excellent Cornas. I pretty much agree with the more recent notes below - this is rustic and authentic Cornas, scrubby and full of flavor. There's a nice green edge to the nose that signals whole cluster. The palate is juicy with dark fruits, game, earth and a stony, tannic finish.

Drunk without food, which is not ideal with Cornas. But this is not a heavyweight wine - though the wine doesn’t lack for intensity of flavor, there is some restraint in volume here. Flavors now showing some development - gentle leather, meat and smoke notes now cover dark Syrah fruit, complicated by iron and earthy tones. No easy sweetness on the palate but some generosity shows up on the finish, which lacks a little length. But then an evident drying tannic presence settles in the cheeks. Balanced overall. Lacks some elegance - but this is Cornas after all. Authentic Cornas - genuine but not too complicated. Ready but will keep. Bought on release.

Excellent wine, ready now. 14.5% abv so big bodied, but comes through as soft, broad and palate coating. Dusty and earthy on nose and palate, with sweet caramel, dried red flowers and minty notes. The high toned top notes lift off over the earthy and tannic richness. The tannins have melted away but contribute plenty of texture, weight and a dry mouth feel. Excellent clean finish.

Under rated Cornas. Textbook, drink now, should last another 5-7 years.
