  • Pronounced acidity and apple flavour, just a hint of oak, just the grapes without Cali-style toast and butter. Good stuff. OK with grilled scallops on New Year's Eve but it complimented Prawns Toukolimano the next day.

  • 2012 Pearl Morissette Estate Winery Chardonnay Cuvée Dix-Neuvième was maturing and well-balanced. The maturing Niagara Chardonnay was clear pale gold in colour with traces of colourless crystals. It took an hour of decanting to open up aromatics of cut red apples, pears and caramel. There were notes of honey and cream underneath.

The mouthfeel was dry, waxy and medium-bodied, with medium-high level of integrating acidity. Flavours of apple purée, herbs, nuts and a touch of saline minerals were present in a medium gently spiced finish. The alcohol level was at 13.5%. The wine was predominantly aged in used oak barrels (77%) and the rest in stainless steel tank. It was a great experience to taste a developed local Chardonnay with good balance of primary and tertiary flavours.

  • Clear deep gold; clear medium plus nose of jellied fruit, candied orange, vanilla, hazelnuts and funk; dry; medium plus acidity; medium alcohol; full body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate is pithy with addition of gingerbread and mandarin orange; long finish; drink now or in a few years; really exceptional wine - lucky to have tried it as part of the discovery series

  • Some differences over the last bottle I had in 2019. Still a beautiful rich deep golden yellow with maybe a touch on the brownish side.
Aromas of ripe apples, caramel, butter, lemon drops, poached pears.
Flavours show the same … creaminess, acidity is waning, as a ripe apple (almost an apple juice flavour) moves front and centre now. Medium bodied. Medium length on the finish. Bit of stoney minerality on the finish. Some lemon peel bitterness on the finish as well. Wouldn't leave this wine much longer.

  • Beautiful rich deep golden yellow with maybe a touch on the brownish side.
Aromas of caramel, butter, lemon drops, poached pears.
Flavours show the same … creaminess, nice acidity, medium bodied. More Burgundian in nature then new world chardonnay. Medium length on the finish. Bit of stoney minerality on the finish. Some lemon peel bitterness on the finish as well. Still time left to age in my opinion.
