Translucent burgundy, medium bodied French oak, all spice, dark fruit Nice depth to this wine. Tastes like the nose, and I find this quite enjoyable with or without food. Very good wine.

Spice & dry. Food really brings out the oaky vanilla. Brambly red fruit, earthiness, Portobello mushrooms and black pepper. Finish is quite dry, really cries for a red sauces.

2009 San Polino, BDM: clear lucent ruby core with a narrow vague yellowish rim. Medium Sour cherry liquor on the nose with mashroom and a hint of woody and lesser perfume. Medium+ acidity, off dry and m+ alcohol(14+), medium body, medium fine but rustic tannin giving a furry touch, dark leaves, wet leaves or leather on the palate, and a heated and (calcium?) fresh finish with a hint of vanilla and dark chocolate.
After breathing in the bottle, caramel shows and sour cherry become obvious on the palate with a hint of licorice in the finish. Good balance holding the strong alcohol, almost good length, okay intensity, okay complexity. Developing some decayed flavor, but weaker fruitiness, furry tannin, at peak maybe.
After being breathed for more hours, Cherry, leather, woody complexity with a hint of French oak(?), Ripe apple and cheese, A hint of grape seed, Dark leaves in the finish with caramel and more Dried Tobacco, delicates baked thyme and a hint of raisin and soapy white flower, cognac like prune, and some hawthorn...and Finally, the Tobacco aftertaste accumulated in the mouth and a lingering finish that never ends.
After 3-hour bottle aeration, Good balance holding the alcohol, super length, good intensity, everchanging great complexity. Maybe partial/total natural yeasty fermentation and medium tannin varietal. A good wine really benefited from long breathing, 89 for very high quality tannin, outstanding complexity, stylish tobacco finish, developing complexity but a little less concentrated for the lack of a major tone on the palate, otherwise will be definitely outstanding. Try it again tomorrow.

The wine looks salmon colored. The legs are slow. It smells like red currant, cherry, dust, mushroom and cedar. It tastes like gooseberry, blackberry, strawberry jam and forest floor. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture and finishes long.

A bit dry finish. Better with food not as after dinner wine.
