Community Tasting Notes (6) Median Score: 89 points

  • Stiff tannins still rule over nice red cherry and even raspberry fruit and rock dust minerality. No potting soil or leather or tobacco unfortunately. If the fresh pretty but medium weighted core of red raspcherry can hang in there while the tannins polymerize and settle this may become a very nice wine indeed. Currently with food is best - puckering tannins close things down pretty fast without the benefit of palate companion.

  • Very much on the lighter side all around. Needs 60-90 min open. Enjoyable for about 2 hours then it fades. Nothing remarkable.

  • Medium ruby colour. Medium (+) nose with red cherry, black cherry, black pepper, cinnamon and cedar on the nose. Medium (+) taste of red cherry, black cherry, black pepper, cinnamon, leather, cedar and forest floor. Long and dry finish. Medium (+) acidity. Medium (+) tannins. Medium body. A very good Brunello that still feels young. Would benefit from more storage to develop even further, or decant properly to enjoy now. Goes well with beef, game or lamb.

  • Nose: Initial burst of soft, red fruit.. deep but subtle fruit. There's a really enjoyable earth smell to it.. (or more like forest floor I should say). Slight oak. After letting it sit in the glass for 30 minutes, the smell of fruits comes out a little bit more.

Palate: Earth with a slight touch of minerality.. the fruit has gone into the distance. Pencil shavings.. and good, clean soil? Sounds weird but that's what I imagine when I taste this.

Dark, yet translucent ruby color. Dry and with a pretty good telling of an Old World style. Tannins are very present but smooth still.. good finish of about 4-5+ seconds. I'm usually not a fan of the Old World flavors but I feel that it's really a good wine, just not my preference. Nothing stands out too much.. it all works well together. If you like the Old World style, this is something to try. Again, even though this is not my preference, it's well made in my opinion. When I drink this.. it tastes like the soil where the grapes were grown was infused into this wine. I guess that's terroir? Nothing really turns me away.. except that I just like wines more fruit-forward.

*Edit: Please decant for at least 2 hours I think.. after sitting in the glass it becomes better.
