  • To hot and to jammy, lacking fruit and acid for my taste.

  • Muscular Rasteau wine with a varietal composition of 50 % Grenache, 35 % Syrah and 15 % Mourvèdre (clay and limestone soils). The three varieties were vinified separately and aged in concrete tanks ; only the Syrah component was partly matured in oak barrels (twelve months). I gave this wine about sixty minutes of air prior to consumption. Dense dark red colored wine revealing scents of kirsch liqueur, dried herbs, licorice and a hint of graphite. The full-bodied, alcohol dominated palate shows ripe bramble and plum fruit and still quite present tannins. Spicy aftertaste. Drinking window: now–2021.

Kruidige afdronk. Te drinken: nu–2021.

  • Fairly dark red. Lots of red fruit, it really softens up as it breathes. More ripeness and less green then the 2011. Not as interesting as the very herbal and delicious 11.

  • It was a bit too hot and jammy for me on day one. But it developed wings over the next few days with some surprising acidity and a nice balance which was quite different from what it was on the first day. Who knew!
