  • Opened alongside a Normandie Eisen & Viljoen 2012.

Pop n pour to test the waters, then put into a smaller decanter for 45 mins prior to drinking due to initial tannin requiring softening. Lush wine, 51% Malbec and 49% merlot. Black cherries, black and red plums, black olive and a little chocolate and vanilla. Super juicy, mouth filling, medium + bodied and super enjoyable, medium + finish. In a good space now.

  • Bought this in 2014 at the winery, and I’m so stoked that it is showing so well. Deep but vibrant aromas of currants and plums, laced with lovely leather, black pepper, soy, tobacco, mint, coffee. Full-bodied with vibrant acidity, velvety tannins, structured but rounded and woven together really well. Pure and vibrant with black cherry, dark currant, blueberry, tangy plums, laced with tons of pepper, dried leaves, clove, menthol, leather, soy. Complex and lovely but vibrant, still. Lots of time still ahead but I really like where this is. Juicy fruit still but everything is coming together nicely.

  • This was in a great place. Juicy but with some degree of complexity and good length. Great black and red fruit, thyme and mocha with a hint of tomato sauce.

  • South African Wine + Surf Trip; 5/17/2014-6/1/2014 (Western Cape, South Africa): Dark ruby colored. The aromas are deep and contemplative, evolving quite a lot over the half-hour tasting. Great tannic structure, but the tannins are sanded down so the mouthfeel is creamy, complemented by fresh acid. The black cherry and blueberry fruit is pure and voluptuous. I get complex notes of cola, cedar, dried leaves, charcoal and baking spices. The wine is long, full and complex, and the mouthfeel is so damn attractive. A blend of 51% Malbec, 46% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 22 months in 20% new French Oak and 12 months in bottle before release. A stunning wine.
