Giant Wine Sale & Tasting 11/15/2014 Cellar in Greene, Columbia, SC (Cellar on Greene, Columbia, SC): What a super pleasant surprise, an Albarino from Washington State. At first sip, thinking it was from Rias Baixas, I thought there was something different. There is no doubt about the Albarino flavor profile, this one just has a Washington State desert climate, long sunshine day affect. It is not as racy and spicy as it's Spanish cousins. The fruit is a little sweeter, without all that mouth puckering, quick hitting flavor and acid. It still has the typical, brisk lemon lime and mineral taste. Maybe a little more honey and pineapple. A little rustic with some peach skin and pit flavors. Lots of raw, pure malic acid on a very refreshing finish.

Smokey citrus nose
Mineral more than fruit on palate, coming closer to old world style

Twisted and poured. Nose of pineapple, kiwi and flint. Lovely acid on the palate. Very food friendly. Would purchase again.

Saline apple and spice notes, with good snap in the middle and great freshness, this lacks only in the finesse department.
