A final bottle found in the dark recesses of my cellar - a wine I drank cases of in its and my youth and now an interesting but not unpleasant shadow of its formerly voluptuous self. Graphite and cedar on the nose, tertiary notes, very little fruit to balance the acidity, an old love turned faintly shrewish - unrateable.

Red berries, cedar tree and sweet pipe tobacco. Exactly as a Bordeaux with age should taste. Few secondary notes and no tertiary notes. Soft tannins. At its peak. Don’t know if the latest ratings were for wines stored sub-optimally. This wine has been stored optimally throughout its life.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium acidity. There is a very silky feel to this with balanced tones of red cherries, red florals, leather, tobacco, and cedar tones.
Overall: This was a bit tight at first, but it took about an hour to fully open up. This is showing nicely right now with this being nicely polished on both the nose and palate.

PnP. I entirely agree with Zweder. This is not a good 1998 Pomerol and way past peak. We could barely finish half the bottle.

Bearserkerfest Day 2- Domaine Wine Storage (Domaine Wine Storage, Chicago IL): Nose: This took a little bit to open up. When it did, it revealed perfumed tones of red fruits, red floral tones, some tobacco notes, cedar, and spice tones. There is nice depth to this, but it's still a bit tightly wound.

Donkerrood, iets oranje. Een behoorlijke stinkneus, groenig en maggi. Drogende tannines. Deze wijn heeft z'n beste tijd gehad, daarom geen score.
