Was worried we'd missed the window here by 3-4 years; not even close. Absolutely sang tonight. Quick decant likely helped, as it was better 30-60 minutes in than it was outta the gate. Syrah-laced Gamay, with blackberry fruit and all kinds of earthy, green, amaro herbal notes. Tasted so good it felt almost as if we were meant to wait 8 years!

Glowing rose-violet color. Crazy nose of fresh-cut grass, hay-strewn barn (lightly manured), sous-bois, and some raspberry funk. Unbelieveably tart raspberries and and an amazingly delicious finish that tastes like crunchy Rhone Syrah sediment. Gamay via the Northern Rhône. Fantastic.

A bit more traditional than the btl I had one year ago. Crunchy, bright round berry Bojo fruit, some rhubarb, raspberry licorice, and a hint of dried flowers. There is great acid here, a melty tannins on the finish. There is also a little something unusual (caperberries?) that I don't at all hate. I definitely dig this and it will be tough not to drain the whole btl over the next couple hours. This is not a keeper but really a pointe at the moment. Brain Capers, double sadness, I do not think this wine will outlive the Trump presidency.

Did anyone think we would only drink half a bottle of Les Faverelles tonight, really, so next was 2013 La Souteronne, and it is doing very nicely, thank you, natural as can be, and better for it. Hopefully it will outlive the Trump presidency.

Nice, fresh, bright. Has a lean, high-acid, red fruit crispness and rhubarb mixed with a certain funkiness that reminds me of a Frank Cornellisan (although not quite that funky!). I know this is supposed to have a N Rhone bacony-ness, but I don't get that. Overall, this is interesting. Should be drunk up.
