  • Love this wine for its wacky wildness. Light ruby/cloudy color. Smells of mushroom, forest fire, pepper, herbal tea, wild game bird, on top of strawberries and raspberries. Medium-bodied, some dusty grip to the tannins, fresh acidity. Sour cherries and raspberries are loaded with peppered steak, charcoal fire, fallen leaves, wet/mossy soil, herbs and black tea. Opens up wonderfully to show more floral tones. On day 2, this was straight up braised lamb juice. Funky, weird, but I find it delicious. If you purchased this, you know what you're getting into. If you're pouring for friends, include a disclaimer or don't and watch their facial reactions - should be fun!

  • Enjoyed it. T, not so much, ok only. Clearly from Rhone flavor & aroma-wise. Still the gamay is obvious, too. Takes getting used to. Has dried fruit and somewhat oxidized nose. I like that it's not overly polished & tastes "home-made." Fruit works with lamb/beef. Has bright acidity so it's also flexible and not an earthy, leathery red.

  • Decanted and began drinking immediately. Ominously cloudy, and the aroma does seem to have some unusual microbial stuff going on but this mostly blows off and it seems to have been mainly reduction with maybe a touch of Brett; smells great - fresh red fruit, flowers, earth; pungent, lively, lovely. Similar on the palate - fresh, juicy, pungent/wild, delicious. Nice fresh strawberryish fruit, delicately floral, earthy, all lifted and held together by acidity. Good stuff!

  • Decant, then release the hounds! I did not find this overly funky, thought maybe a bit furry and dusty. Well, maybe that means funky, I dunno. Really brightened up after a couple of hours - morphed into a lip smacker.

  • Cloudy red, slightly reduced musky funky nose like old school Rhone Syrah, wild and fresh and energetic on the palate with tons of fresh berries and smoky gaminess. From old vines Gamay on schist.
